No matter where you are or what level of training you have, part of being prepared means knowing what services are available to you and your neighbors in your community. Knowing what services are in your community helps you understand what kind of response you will get during an emergency, and how your own response during times of crisis can be most effective.
USA.Gov publishes an awesome resource to help you. This link will take you to Health Services in Your Community. Select the kind of support you'd like to learn about, type in your zip code and see what pops up! You'll see a list of doctors, mental health facilities, disability resources, nursing homes, hospitals and more. You can even compare the services offered by these facilities to see how well each facility scores in terms of patient safety, satisfaction, outcomes of care, medicare payments and more! It even plots all of your chosen facilities on a map for you!
Use this resource to research the medical care that you and your family recieve. Then use the map feature to get a clear image of where each of these facilities are located - compared to where you live and/or work.
Being aware of what kind of care is available around you is an important step that you can take now - before a crisis actually happens. Check out Health Services in Your Community today!
