a fire plan saved their animals!
This article caught my eye. These folks have several birds and 3 dogs and were able to get everyone out of their house when it caught fire!

Wow... this is unusual and awesome at the same time. Even a plan for the birds...
I've experienced quite a few fire scenes where the outcome was not so positive for the pets. I'm betting plans would save a lot more pet lives. I wonder if someone can post a sample plan in our Animal Preparedness forum.
