About You:
Today, I am a small business owner. We finance commercial real estate with institutional capital partners in the 48 contiguous United States.

I'm a former Fed. For 20 years, I served the Department of Defense. I've been active duty, a Federal contractor and a supervisory GS-343-15 responsible for Defense Business Transformation. You can find more about what I used to do by following my LinkedIn profile link.
What is Your Interest in the Community?
My interest is to give back to the community. I enjoy leveraging my background and experience to raise awareness and preparedness in the communities I am part of. I believe we could all benefit from a being a little more prepared. Emergency services are straining under budget pressure and they can be overwhelmed by events. Citizens that are prepared can be valuable assets to their communities!
Your Training Background:
I am formally trained as a first responder, an EMT, a fire fighter and a Navy Corpsman. The military gave me additional training roughly equivalent to the level of a civilian paramedic.

I have been trained and practiced as a BLS (CPR) instructor, an EMT instructor, an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor, an Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC) instructor, and have additional training in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS), structural fire fighting (additional fire training), SCBA operations (filling air tanks), helicopter operations and medivacs.

I was a volunteer member of fire departments in New York and Connecticut. Our New York department ran approximately 200 - 300 structure fires per year via an automatic mutual aid program with 33 fire districts. I fought more than 1,000 structure fires in those years.

I was a paid member of EMS/rescue operations in New York and South Carolina. In New York we did a lot of medical transport work - to include all medical operations out of Danemora State Prison.

I'm a trained SCUBA diver, an FAA licensed aircraft pilot, and a licensed motorcycle enthusiast. I hold a basic GRMS radio operator's license.

I am recently trained as a member of the Montgomery County Emergency Response Team (CERT). I am also a Scout Leader with the Boy Scouts of America.

I'd rather see my smiling face too, but I photograph like death warmed over so that's unlikely to happen. :)

Great job getting this set up, Dave. Thanks for all your hard work!

Great - thanks - how about directing people to the FB page, too, We need to funnel people into a single source. When we have a reliable web page maestro, our own page (MontgomeryCERT.org) will be the authority, but for now, we have to make do.

    Hi David,

I was trying to create a new forum on 'Disaster Preparation for Animals', but accidentally saved it to the Gear forum. Is it possible to move it into it's own forum? Another idea I had for a forum would be employment within the emergency management field. In part because I'm currently looking for work within emergency management.

Thank you for all the hard work you put into creating this website.

    Hi Dave.

Any chance I could hire you for a down and dirty web site?

My daughter was just approved for starting a club at her school. She is not looking for anything too fancy. Would you be interested?
